Mercy is a passionate Child Development Practitioner with a wide range of experiences in the industry including child psychology, child protection, youth development, training design and delivery and entrepreneurial training for small businesses. Her skills and expertise have been acquired through over fifteen years of work in development organizations.
Currently, she is the Youth Development Specialist for Compassion International Ghana. Prior to this role, she served as the Country Director’s Administrative Assistant and Training Specialist. Before joining Compassion, she was a Project Manager of FIT National Network, a local non-governmental organization that collaborated with the International Labour Organization to build capacity of small and medium scale business owners in entrepreneurial skills and business management as well as work on some interventions to curb child labour and exploitation in selected communities in Ghana. Under her leadership and direction, Compassion Partners have mainstreamed personality assessment and career coaching sessions into programming to get beneficiaries determine their personalities and the likely career paths to take, which also informs the courses they are to select at secondary schools. She also mainstreamed mentorship programs, youth participation, leadership development and caregiver empowerment programs.
She has acquired excellent presentation and facilitation skills as a result of her work. Her top five strengths, based on the Clifton’s Strength Finder are deliberative, relator, developer, responsibility and focus. She is a self-motivated individual, result oriented and proven capability to lead others.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Cape Coast, 2002, Master’s degree in Community Development from University of Ghana, 2015, where she emerged as the best student of her year group. She has certificates in training design and delivery, child protection, Your One Degree Certified Coach and counselling.
Hobbies – Reading, back yard gardening, interacting with children.
